“I tell young people to prepare themselves as best they can for a world that grows more challenging every day - get the best education they can, and couple that education with real-life experience in social justice work.” JULIAN BOND
Description:
Nuevo SNCC is built on the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee’s legacy of nonviolent resistance and seeks to work effectively with local communities to address pressing needs around the constitutional and human right to quality education. Nuevo SNCC is a program for young people from ages 18–30. Its structure is drawn from a combination of SNCC and successful national service models, such as the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s and more modern versions of the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, City Year, Episcopal Service Corps, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, etc. The Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that believes "Every person is sacred across all borders," is our fiscal sponsor. Their website can be found at: www.Im4HumanIntegrity.org.

- Contacting us to set up a training on nonviolent resistance in your community/campus. Click here to see a flyer for free nonviolent resistance training (pdf). Here is an article from a previous training done at the University of San Diego.
- If you live near San Diego County, volunteering or working with Nuevo SNCC. See the Nuevo SNCC Organizer Job Announcement (pdf) by clicking here.
- Fasting once a week for lunch in solidarity with the 51% of low-income public school children in America who might not know where their next meal will come from. We ask that you redirect the money that would have been spent on food ($10/week) to Nuevo SNCC.
- Or, simply contribute funds on a monthly basis to sponsor a Nuevo SNCC organizer. A mass movement will not take place unless we are willing to fund organizations and leaders who can devote their time, energy and talents to this effort. Contributions are tax deductible. Simply go to http://im4humanintegrity.org/donate/ and click on the yellow "DONATE" button at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to "Add special instructions" stating that this contribution is for Nuevo SNCC if you use PayPal. If you send a check, simply put "For Nuevo SNCC" in the memo section.
